The Bay Area posted job gains during October, an upswing that helped the nine-county region snap a string of job losses, a new government report released Friday shows.Despite the improvement, the job gains in the Bay Area in October remain well below the robust pace of employment increases that the region achieved in the first half of this year. The Bay Area added 3,300 jobs in October — but the increase was fueled mainly by gains in the San Francisco-San Mateo region, the report shows. The South Bay and the East Bay both suffered job losses last month. The South Bay lost 400 jobs, the East Bay shed 500 positions, and the San Francisco-San Mateo region gained 4,000 jobs. All of the numbers were adjusted for seasonal volatility.California added 40,200 jobs in October, which represented a big improvement from the decidedly feeble employment gains the state produced in June, July, August and September, the government report shows. The statewide unemployment rate worsened, however, r...New Levi’s Stadium GM says there’s no fanbase like 49ers ‘Faithful’

Francine Hughes has been working in sports and venue management for more than 20 years, including a stint managing the legendary Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.“Throughout those experiences I’ve overseen the crafting of best in class fan experiences, as well as the behind-the-scenes operations of major organizations,” says Hughes, who has worked on such massive events as the Los Angeles Marathon over the years. All of that served to prep Hughes for her latest role — executive vice president and general manager of Levi’s Stadium. She’s only a few months into her first NFL season, yet she’s already impressed with what she’s witnessing in Santa Clara.“After joining the San Francisco 49ers (earlier this year), I can already tell there’s no fanbase or building quite like the ‘Faithful’ or Levi’s Stadium, so it’s a privilege to get to do that work for this organization,” she says.We recently had the chance to talk with Hughes about her new job.Q: What’s the best thing about your job?A...Analysis: What America’s shoplifting panic is really about

The subhead explains: “The terror group has proved again and again that it will sabotage any efforts to forge a lasting peace.” The article is the latest chapter of Clinton’s press tour following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, including an appearance on the daytime talk show “The View.” Both in The Atlantic and on “The View,” Clinton explained why a ceasefire in Israel’s current war on Gaza would be a terrible mistake.Everything Clinton has said is part of a peculiar genre of self-defeating “liberal” propaganda on the topic of Israel–Palestine. Eleven Democrats in the House of Representatives are calling on the State Department to conduct a probe into human rights abuses inside Pakistan, with an eye toward restricting aid based on potential violations of the Leahy Act, according to a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.Led by Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rep. Greg Casar of Texas, the letter expresses “deep concern about the ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan,” which has been in a state of political crisis since the military-engineered removal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan last year. Khan was removed from office following a no-confidence vote organized by the military and his civilian opponents. The Leahy Law, as it’s often called, bars military assistance to government entities engaged in abuse.According to a classified Pakistani intelligence document reported in August by The Intercept, the effort to remove Khan also came partly on the back of pressure from the U.S. government, which had been an...Latest news
