Charlie Bern does a little bit of everything for the East Ridge High School football team. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Raptors senior lines up at tight end, running back and fullback on offense while playing both defensive end and linebacker on the other side of the ball.“I sit on the sideline and (head) coach (Dan Fritze) just puts me in,” Bern said. “He tells me what to do at whatever position he wants me at. I’m kind of like a Swiss Army knife. I do whatever the team needs.”What East Ridge needed most Friday was touchdowns, and Bern provided them in abundance, rushing for three scores (including a go-ahead 32-yard run with 7:47 to play) and catching another as the Raptors upset Anoka 35-28 on the road in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs at Goodrich Field.“He came out last year as a junior for the first time in a long time,” Fritze said. “He’s a basketball player. Concert review: Queen + Adam Lambert deliver thrilling blast of nostalgia at the X

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 06:58:09 GMT

Friday night at Xcel Energy Center, Queen + Adam Lambert delivered a truly memorable “Somebody to Love,” complete with the audience singing along at the end. It was such a triumphant take on the gospel-inspired 1976 hit, it felt like the encore. Thing is, there was still an hour to go.As they’ve proven in their previous two shows at the St. Paul hockey arena, Queen + Adam Lambert make for a terrific combination and that was once again the case Friday. Technically, it’s the second local stop on the group’s sprawling Rhapsody Tour, which kicked off back in July 2019, riding high on the success of the 2018 Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” (The tour took a two-year break due to the pandemic.)But it wasn’t the same show they played at the X in August 2019. The big hits remain — “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” among them — but the group subbed out some of the lesser-known songs from 2019 and c...

The home rental property announced that it is launching an AI and machine learning system to block one-night and two-night reservations over Halloween in L.A. and throughout the United States. The new AI system will help identify and prevent high-risk booking attempts for home listings by pinpointing signals including the length of the trip, the distance of the listing, and whether the booking is last-minute, that could indicate a renter who may be attempting to use the space for an unauthorized party. “While disruptive parties are rare, we want to try to reduce the risk of them even more,” said Naba Banerjee, Head of Trust and Safety at Airbnb. “Our AI anti-party system is an important tool in helping us to do that, and we’re optimistic it will have a positive impact for our community and neighborhoods this Halloween.”The company also partnered with law enforcement from a...
