Albany Curling Club welcomes new members for the season

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Many may have heard of or seen Curling because of the Winter Olympics, but curling has been a part of the Capital Region since 1866. Once the Albany Curling Club was established in 1955, the club has been able to train state, regional, and national champions while also having athletes who have played at Olympic-level games throughout the club's history. ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery will be hosting the return of their annual Hawaiian Oktoberfest. The event, which will also serve as a fundraiser for the Maui Strong Fund, is scheduled for October 14 and October 15. Police are investigating after an overnight shooting in Dorchester left a man dead on Blue Hill Avenue.The Boston Police Department said officers found the victim after being called to the area of 1194 Blue Hill Ave. around 12:30 a.m. for reports of a person shot.According to police, the victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the scene.In a news release, Boston PD said that as of Saturday morning, authorities were continuing to review evidence and that no arrests had been made yet.Authorities ask that anyone with information on the incident contact the department’s homicide unit at 617-343-4470. GLASTONBURY, Conn. (AP) — A former Connecticut police officer is suspected of being a serial burglar and committing 30 or more thefts in three states, including the community he had patrolled until recently. A newly unsealed warrant says former Glastonbury Police Officer Patrick Hemingway is believed to have targeted safes and cash registers at restaurants and businesses in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The warrant, cited in multiple news reports and released Thursday, says surveillance videos show a suspect possibly resembling the former officer.Hemingway, 37, was charged last month with computer crimes and making a false statement. A judge at his arraignment said more charges were expected.
