But today they’re celebrating that she lived to see 21.“We didn’t think she was going to be back around on Saturday, the day after, but she’s a warrior and she fought through and absolute miracles happen,” continued Hunter. Some electric vehicle charging stations along the Pike are offline during Memorial Day Weekend, state transportation officials said.Fixed charging stations in Lee, Natick, Charlton, and Framingham are “currently unavailable,” the Department of Transportation said on Friday. Tesla charges at the service plazas in Charlton are still online.A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation said two mobile battery charges will be placed along I-90 at the Natick and Charlton service plazas, first in the westbound direction on Saturday and then in the eastbound direction on Sunday and Monday.“MassDOT continues to work toward establishing a financially sustainable, equitable, and complete network of fast-charging stations to support travelers taking long-distance trips in electric vehicles,” the spokesperson said. “The process to build out and maintain a reliable charging network is underway and MassDOT’s efforts are complementary to other ongoing federal, state, and local initiatives su...Pat Leonard’s NFL Notes: Bills, Giants, Jets, Patriots, Chiefs, Raiders all possibly in play for DeAndre Hopkins

One league source saw DeAndre Hopkins’ release from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday and texted this to the Daily News:“Bills.”But more conversations have expanded the list: various sources believe the Bills, Giants, Jets, Patriots, Chiefs and Raiders are teams who could be in the mix for the three-time All-Pro wide receiver.Hopkins, 30, has worked out with Saquon Barkley this offseason, and he no longer is carrying the albatross contract that made any hypothetical trade a non-starter prior to the draft.Imagine if Giants GM Joe Schoen landed Hopkins on top of signing Barkley to an extension by mid-July: Not only would the offense look more dangerous than it’s been in a decade-plus; that would officially make the Giants a destination, which they have not been in a very long time.Hopkins did make clear recently that Buffalo piques his interest.“I would have to say one of my favorite quarterbacks I’ve been watching since he came in the league is Josh ...Lacrosse notebook: Plymouth North’s Annika Pyy at 279 career goals and counting

By now, it’s pretty well established that the Patriot League has become a collegiate pipeline for boys and girls lacrosse talent. If you were to take a ride down Route 3 to Plymouth North High School, you would find the latest phenom to emerge from the conference’s historic ranks. That would be senior Annika Pyy, who has taken the state by storm in recent weeks with her electrifying ability to score.“I think Annika is definitely number one,” said Plymouth North girls lacrosse coach Becca Brady. “I’ve been coaching there since 2014, as an assistant coach before I became the head coach. She’s just on another level from anyone else I have ever coached before.”Pyy has registered 279 career goals. The Assumption commit has taken things to a completely new level this spring, netting 117 goals and 18 assists. She has also collected 167 draw controls. Her crowning stretch came last week when she netted 10 or more goals in consecutive games against Falmouth, Whitman-Hanson and Marshfield.Yet,...VP Harris, 1st woman to give commencement speech at West Point, welcomes cadets to ‘unsettled world’

NEW YORK (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman to deliver a commencement speech at West Point, lauded graduating cadets Saturday for their noble sacrifice in serving their country, but noted they were entering an “unsettled world” because of Russian aggression and the rising threats from China.“The world has drastically changed,” Harris told the roughly 950 graduating cadets. She referred to the global pandemic that took millions of lives and the fraught shifts in global politics in Europe and in Asia.“It is clear you graduate into an increasingly unsettled world where long-standing principles are at risk,” she said.As the U.S. ended two decades of war in Afghanistan, the longest in the country’s history, the vice president again condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the first major ground war in Europe since World War II.She also warned cadets to be wary of China, as it rapidly modernizes its military and muscles for control of parts of the high s...Germany expects Russia to expel German diplomats, teachers, cultural staff

BERLIN (AP) — Russia will start expelling German diplomats, teachers and employees of German cultural institutions next month — a move that will further enhance tensions between the two countries that have already had very fraught ties since Russia invaded Ukraine early last year. The German foreign ministry sharply criticized Russia’s move, calling the upcoming expulsions a “unilateral, unjustified and incomprehensible decision.”The expulsion will affect several hundred German state employees, including teachers and staff of the Goethe Institute, which promotes German culture and language abroad, daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported. The expulsion comes in response to the reduction of the presence of Russian intelligence services in Germany earlier this year.“The Russian Foreign Ministry had made public in April its decision to introduce a cap on the number of staff at our missions abroad and at German intermediary organizations in Russia,” according to the German Foreign Office...Latest news
