Saunders vs. Newman: Will Rockies lose 100 games this season? Does it matter?
Published Tue, 05 Nov 2024 05:40:35 GMT
At the all-star break, the Rockies are 34-57 and on pace to finish 61-101. Denver Post beat writers Patrick Saunders and Kyle Newman debate the importance of Colorado’s historically bad trajectory.Saunders: As you might guess, the idea of a 100-loss season is not a popular topic in the Rockies clubhouse. As someone said to me over the weekend in San Francisco, “Why do you keep writing that we’re on track for 100 losses? Do you really have to do that?” Well, given that the Rockies have never hit that dubious milestone, I think it’s newsworthy to track. And I don’t think it’s “piling on.” I see it as a measure of the state of the franchise. But I ask you Mr. Newman, will the Rockies lose 100 games for the first time? Does it matter if they do?Newman: Yes, this team will not only hit 100 losses — with easily the most depleted rotation in the National League, they might make a run at 105. Achieving franchise infamy will matter,...Tracking the Rockies’ picks on Day 2 of the 2023 MLB Draft

It’s probably a weird coincidence but Madonna, Jamie Foxx and Heather Locklear each holed up in public places over the weekend, perhaps expecting they’d be photographed looking healthy, mobile and lucid. To varying degrees, these three icons of American music, movies and TV probably feel pressure to counteract reports and gossip that they’ve been debilitated by dire medical issues, infections or relapses into addictive, out-of-control behavior.Starting with Madonna, the “Vogue” singer was photographed on Sunday walking around her Upper East Side neighborhood in New York and chatting with a friend, according to the Daily Mail and a video posted by TikToker Lauren Conlin. Only 11 days earlier, the 64-year-old pop legend was reportedly found unconscious in her home, due to a serous bacterial infection, supposedly revived with the drug Narcan for unknown reasons, and rushed to a hospital, where she was intubated and spent several days in the ICU.madonna out ...The tastiest places to stay: 20 hotels around the world with Michelin star restaurants

People may be moving to Florida in droves, but Troy Liggett and his husband are dreaming of fleeing. The Sunshine State they’ve called home since 2016 isn’t so sunny anymore, the Fort Lauderdale attorney says. Liggett, an Indiana native, and husband Marco Hernandez, a nurse from Texas, moved to South Florida knowing they’d find a warm welcome from the gay-friendly community. Now, seven years later, the state government has them not feeling so welcome, Liggett says. And they’re not the only ones.A lesbian couple he knows has already picked up and moved to Cleveland, mainly to escape from the “crazy, oppressive laws” embraced by Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently on the campaign trail seeking higher office as president of the free world. It was DeSantis, a darling of the far right, who coined the phrase “Florida is where woke goes to die.” DeSantis has riled the LGBTQ community with his so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law and what some consider a politically-motivated attack on drag queens, t...At least 1 dead as relentless storms wallop Northeast
