EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Miami safety Jevon Holland called the MetLife Stadium turf “trash” after teammate Jaelan Phillips injured his right Achilles tendon in the Dolphins’ 34-13 win over the New York Jets on Friday.Phillips was carted from the field late in the fourth quarter, a non-contact injury that reignited the turf-vs.-grass debate among players.“Since I’ve been in the league, I’ve heard the field is trash,” said Holland, whose 99-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first half helped lead Miami to the victory. “I don’t know the statistics or anything like that, but I do know turf does increase the chances of getting hurt.”Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon on the same field just four snaps into his debut with New York on Sept. 11. MetLife Stadium changed its surface — which had been widely criticized because of injuries — before this season. But players have continued to voice their displeasure with the new turf.Dolphins runnin...D.J. Wagner scores 28, No. 16 Kentucky routs Marshall 118-82 for most points under John Calipari

This weekend, thousands of people are expected to gather in Rome and other major cities as part of what organisers say is a “revolution” under way in Italian attitudes to masculinity and violence against women and girls. Brussels is studying how European governments can sell weapons as easily as the Americans do. In the wake of the Ukraine war, EU governments have significantly boosted military spending — but the juicy arms deals have often gone to U.S. defense contractors at the expense of European companies. In order to claw back the initiative, the European Commission is raising the prospect of copying the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) scheme — a system where the Pentagon does the heavy lifting in securing arms sales by using the combined muscle of America’s industrial might and the political advantages of ties with Washington.Europe doesn’t have any equivalent — which puts EU champions like Airbus, Leonardo and Thales at a disadvantage. The European Commission is trying to figure out how to change that, according to an eight-page consultation paper seen by POLITICO. “Should an EU equivalent of the U.S. FMS-scheme be considered, building on government-to-government schemes...Latest news
