Department of Education: PfISD violated Title IX in 2018-19 sex assault case Editor’s Note: The video above shows the top headlines for Aug. 21 from the KXAN News team.PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) -- The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, or OCR, on Monday announced the Pflugerville Independent School District violated Title IX during its response to a sexual assault case, and separately did not provide accommodations for a student with a disability.According to a release from the Department of Education, the OCR has entered a resolution agreement to address the district's handling of a sexual assault case that occurred during the 2018-19 school year, and to ensure the district's compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Woodbury man dies in motorcycle crash in Newport A 49-year-old motorcyclist died when he went off an interstate freeway ramp and into a ditch in Newport, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.The State Patrol identified the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as Brian Paul Cahalan of Woodbury.Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, Cahalan was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson north on U.S. 61 and taking the ramp to Interstate 494 when he crashed. He was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol. Albany man faces up to 27 years in state prison ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 35-year-old man accused of assaulting a woman in the area of Grand Street and Madison Avenue on December 19, 2021, appeared in court on Monday morning. Jeffrey Everett was convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, assault in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree. Pittsfield to unveil mural honoring fallen Vietnam veterans PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The city of Pittsfield, in partnership with the Vietnam Veterans of America James E. Callahan Berkshire County Chapter 65, has announced the unveiling of a new mural honoring Berkshire County's Vietnam veterans who were killed in action. The mural, "Lest We Forget 1961-1975", was painted by Ghi Sign Company based in Canaan, Connecticut, and it references an original depiction from 1991 which was created on the building façade at 101 First Street. 18-year-old arrested for assaulting Illinois officer and school worker O'FALLON, Ill. -- An 18-year-old is accused of assaulting a school employee and O'Fallon officer after being denied entry into a football game. Antwan Douglas of Cahokia Heights now faces several felony charges.A statement from the city of O'Fallon, Illinois, says that Douglas tried to get into the end of the O’Fallon Township High School Blue and Gold football game. After being denied entry he, "pushed the employee about the neck." Doulas resisted arrest and punched an O'Fallon officer in the head several times.Douglas is currently in the St. Clair County Jail with a $65,000 bond.
