ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Thursday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $100 million in funding will be available for zero-emission school buses. The funding is part of the $4.2 billion Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! "The commitment of public funds and guidance released today puts New York State schools and bus operators on a trajectory to embrace clean transportation and the benefits it will bring,” said Governor Hochul. “Zero-emission buses will become a hallmark, not only transporting students through our communities, but also demonstrating the promise and possibility of a healthier, environmentally friendly, low-carbon future for our youngest citizens.” The goal set forward by the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 85% by 2050. ST. LOUIS -- A former officer with the North County Police Cooperative is facing 21 felony charges for sexually abusing men who he had detained or handcuffed. There may be more victims in this case because Marcellis Blackwell's phone contains videos of as-yet unidentified victims. The Department of Justice says that Blackwell of committed the crimes between November 2022 and June 2023. Among other aggravated sexual acts, he fondled the genitals of eight men in his custody. He turned off his body camera before some of the incidents. NORMANDY, Mo. -- A man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for shooting and killing his best friend. A jury convicted Korrie Black, 23, of second degree murder armed criminal action.Prosecutors say Black shot and killed Gerrian Green, 16, on November 24, 2018. A woman was injured when her car was struck by a train in Pasadena Thursday morning.Officials were called out to the intersection of Raymond Avenue and California Boulevard at about 9:20 a.m., according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian. A woman, 40, had to be extricated from her vehicle after it was hit by a train.
