Week ahead mostly sunny, dry and warm despite severe southern storm A dangerous storm moving through the Gulf of Mexico and toward the Florida coast will not have a direct immediate impact on New England weather, according to the National Weather Service.A swirling mass of air over warm southern waters grew to tropical storm strength on Sunday, and though Tropical Storm Idalia is predicted to potentially reach hurricane force before it makes landfall in the U.S. on Tuesday, weather in and around Boston should be mild if a bit wet midweek.“It’s looking like there is a nice strong high pressure building up in southern New England, that’s why we’re looking at such nice weather on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the NWS told the Herald.According to Dunham, rain midweek should taper off by the weekend, when the weather is expected to be comfortably warm and dry.A slight breeze off the ocean will bring clouds Monday morning, Dunham said, but the day is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 75 degrees.
