Pressing pause on California’s aggressive organic waste recycling mandate would be premature and costly to the environment, according to the state agency that oversees the program.On Monday, CalRecycle responded to a draft report from the Little Hoover Commission that recommends state lawmakers go back to the drawing board on Senate Bill 1383, arguing that it is riddled with problems, unfair to rural communities and ultimately falling short of its goals.“Hitting pause on organics recycling and food rescue programs will jeopardize the millions of dollars of investment in California and threaten years of climate progress,” CalRecycle said in a statement to KTLA.SB 1383, which was signed into law in 2016, set benchmarks for reducing the amount of organic waste sent to California landfills by 50% by 2020 and 75% by 2025, using 2014 as a baseline. Knott’s Berry Farm will begin selling season passes to its world-famous Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween event beginning on Tuesday, park officials announced on Twitter.Current season pass holders can purchase the “Scary Farm Season Pass Add-on” for $149, not including taxes and fees, beginning on Tuesday at 6 a.m.The pass will be available for the public on June 9 at 10 a.m. for $159, excluding taxes and fees. Longtime Antioch City Councilmember Monica Wilson announced on Monday that she will seek the state Assembly seat held by Tim Grayson, who is widely expected to run for state Sen. (KRON) -- After more than a year of searching and waiting, Alexis Gabe's remains have now been given over to her family. The Gabe family has scheduled public and private events to celebrate her life later this month. Two SFPD officers slashed with knife in San Francisco hotel standoff Gabe disappeared in January of 2022. Her family and hundreds of members of the public spent the following months scouring various wooded places in the Plymouth area in hopes of finding any sign of her. The first of Gabe's remains was found in November 2022. Gabe's family announced in March of this year that more partial remains belonging to her had also been found by volunteers searching off Highway 49 near Amador City.
