NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has returned to X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, firing off his first message in more than 2 1/2 years shortly after he surrendered at an Atlanta jail on charges he conspired to overturn his election loss.He posted a photo of his mug shot and the words “Election interference. Never surrender!” along with a link to his website, which directs to a fundraising page.It was Trump's first post since Jan. 8, 2021, when Twitter suspended his account indefinitely, citing fears he would incite additional violence following the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol building. His account was reinstated last November shortly after Elon Musk took over the company. But Trump had refrained from tweeting, insisting that he was happier on his own Truth Social site, which he launched during the ban.Trump, the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, had been saying for months that he planned to return to the platfor...Man hit, killed by car in downtown San Diego parking garage identified

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA and SpaceX halted the countdown late Thursday for the launch of four astronauts to the International Space Station.Mission managers rescheduled the liftoff for early Saturday morning, giving them an extra 24 hours to close out lingering issues, officials said. Nearly ideal weather was expected. The four astronauts, representing four countries, had not yet headed to the SpaceX Falcon rocket awaiting them on the pad. They are expected to spend six months at the space station, replacing four astronauts who have been there for half a year. A NASA astronaut is leading the new crew, which includes a Japanese surgeon and Danish and Russian engineers. Earlier Thursday, the station had to dodge a piece of space junk, just hours before a Russian supply ship showed up with a fresh delivery. The debris, a fragment from China’s 2007 anti-satellite missile test, would have passed dangerously close if the station’s orbit not been lowered.___The Associate...California doctor lauded for COVID testing work pleads guilty to selling misbranded cosmetic drugs

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A “rock star” doctor who tested tens of thousands of people for COVID-19 in the pandemic’s early months in a badly-stricken California desert community has pleaded guilty to misbranding cosmetic drugs, authorities said Thursday.Dr. Tien Tan Vo acknowledged in a plea agreement that none of the injectable botlinium toxin, or lip fillers, used by his Imperial Valley clinics from November 2016 to October 2020 were approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, federal prosecutors said.Vo, who endeared himself to patients for his boundless energy to contain the virus’ spread, admitted purchasing most of the cosmetic drugs from the operator of a “med spa” in Mexicali, Mexico, who smuggled them into the United States without declaring them. Vo said he received $100,767 for services performed with unapproved drugs and devices. As part of his plea agreement, the 47-year-old doctor agreed to return the payments and pay a fine of $201,534. Athletes defined by determination – not disabilities – compete in Chicago Triathlon “This is kind of the spot where you’ll see most of the shore birds resting in the morning or even during the day,” he said. “They’ll be foraging at the shoreline.”Surrounded by only the beach and the birds, we’re listening for a low-pitched peep. That is Imani: Chicago’s piping plover, the offspring of Montrose beach’s namesake lovebirds Monty and Rose. The couple first nested at the beach in 2019. For the second straight game, the Dallas Wings gave the Minnesota Lynx all they could handle. But for the second time this week, it was Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride and their teammates who came out on top when all was said and done.Collier finished with 25 points and McBride added 20 — including her 500th career 3-pointer — as Minnesota held off a fourth-quarter Dallas surge to beat the Wings 90-81 on Thursday night at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.“It’s that toughness you see really coming through,” Collier said of the Lynx, who improved to 17-17 with six games left in the regular season. “We’re just doing what needs to get done — especially rebounding and on defense at the end of games.“I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish these past two games.”The Lynx entered the fourth quarter leading 71-60, but led by 6-foot-7 center Teaira McCowan — who finished with 23 points and 18 rebounds — the Wings (18-16) managed to cut the gap to one three times down the ...Concert review: The Black Keys? It was more like the Low Keys at Grandstand opener

Do the Black Keys still want to be the Black Keys? That was one takeaway from the Ohio blues rock duo’s opening night performance Thursday at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand in front of a crowd of 6,621. Much like their previous two local shows, Target Center gigs in 2014 and 2019, guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney turned in a solid, but utterly unspectacular, performance that sped by in a mere 80 minutes. Auerbach produced monster riff after monster riff, while Carney pounded the drums with impressive force and skill. Problem is, they did so with little excitement, let alone any real soul. The pair spent their first 15 years together knocking out records, touring heavily and eventually catching the ear of rock radio, which turned the likes of “Tighten Up,” “Lonely Boy” and “Gold on the Ceiling” into big hits. And, yup, all three made Thursday’s set list. They took a much-needed hiatus in 2015, but felt tired when they returned to action in 201...Latest news
