(KRON) -- California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced on Monday that the California Department of Justice entered a stipulated judgment with the City of Vallejo and the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) regarding reforms to police policies and practices. The judgment expands upon reforms that began under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the DOJ and VPD three years ago. Public outrage over several high-profile police shootings spurred the MOU.The agreement announced Monday resolves DOJ’s complaint alleging the VPD engaged in a pattern and practice of unconstitutional conduct. As part of the new agreement, Vallejo and its police department pledged to undertake a comprehensive set of actions to promote public safety, reduce unlawful uses of force, eliminate racial and identity disparities, strengthen accountability systems, and protect the constitutional rights of the people of Vallejo. ATLANTA (AP) — When Matt Ryan waved to an appreciative Atlanta crowd from the broadcast booth, it was a reminder of a time when the Falcons didn’t have any concerns at quarterback. That’s no longer the case.A half-dozen games into what is supposed to be his first full year as the No. 1 quarterback, Desmond Ridder hardly looks like the guy who will lead the Falcons to a brighter future.Another mistake-filled performance by Ridder cost Atlanta (3-3) a chance to claim the NFC South lead, though coach Arthur Smith also deserved a healthy dose of second-guessing for the haphazard way he ran things on the sideline.Ridder’s three second-half interceptions essentially handed a 24-16 win to the Washington Commanders, who had lost three in a row.It also marked the second time in three weeks that Ridder has committed three turnovers in a game.Through six games, he’s got six touchdowns and six interceptions. Those numbers simply don’t add up to being a successful NF...CJ Stroud’s performance has improved Texans at 3-3 entering bye week

HOUSTON (AP) — Just six games into the season, the Houston Texans already have three wins to match their total from last season. The biggest change? The strong play of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who had another good game Sunday to lead Houston to a 20-13 win over New Orleans to improve to .500 entering the bye week.Stroud threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints. He threw his first interception after setting an NFL record by throwing 191 passes without a pick to start his career. But it didn’t matter much as receiver Nico Collins forced Zack Baun to fumble after the interception. The ball was recovered by Tytus Howard to give the Texans the ball back, and Stroud put them up 7-0 on a 1-yard TD pass to Dalton Schultz.“I think that was the turning point of the game for us and on offense,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “Bad things happen. We responded the correct way. That’s what you continue to see from C.J. … a bad play, it doesn’t affect the next play. That’s growth an...The Supreme Court orders makers of gun parts to comply with rules on ghost guns

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday ordered two internet sellers of gun parts to comply with a Biden administration regulation aimed at ghost guns, firearms that are difficult to trace because they lack serial numbers. The court had intervened once before, by a 5-4 vote in August, to keep the regulation in effect after it had been invalidated by a lower court. No justice dissented publicly from Monday’s order, which followed a ruling from a federal judge in Texas that exempted the two companies, Blackhawk Manufacturing Group and Defense Distributed, from having to abide by the regulation of ghost gun kits.Other makers of gun parts also had been seeking similar court orders, the administration told the Supreme Court in a filing.“Absent relief from this Court, therefore, untraceable ghost guns will remain widely available to anyone with a computer and a credit card — no background check required,” Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar, the administration’s top Supr...US Marshals seek public’s help finding 2nd Morgan State shooting suspect, offer $19K reward

DENVER (KDVR) — Monday marks the first day that county clerks can start sending ballots out to Colorado voters. This year's statewide ballot will have two questions, including one involving nicotine and preschool. If you have lived in Colorado for a while, you may remember Proposition EE. Will Prop HH eliminate TABOR refunds? Scenario ‘likely’ over time Three years ago, Colorado voters approved a tax on nicotine items. The tax money went toward funding the state's universal preschool program."Turns out, a couple of years in, the state found out that the tax was collecting more than anticipated," said Jake Williams, CEO of Healthier Colorado, which is in favor of the ballot question passing. "And as per our state constitution, we need to go back to voters to ask permission to hang on to that money and keep investing it into kids via access to preschool, or should we give that money back to tobacco companies?"The extra dollars the state brought in were significant. (NEXSTAR) – A massive data dump of 11 million criminal offenses reported to the FBI paints a complicated picture of crime in the United States, as well as in Colorado. In 2022, violent crime overall — which includes homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault — dropped modestly. Violent crime was 1.7% lower in 2022 than in 2021, the FBI said. The drop brings violent violent crime back to pre-pandemic levels, though not as low as it was between 2013 and 2015. The data, released Monday, shows that while violent crime dropped nationwide in 2022, it increased in Colorado, continuing a COVID-era trend. Last year, Colorado saw 492.5 violent crimes per 100,000 people, up from 480.4 in 2021 and 423.1 in 2020. Colorado adults: Can you answer these 5th-grade state math test questions? Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is doubtful to play in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders as he recovers from a dislocated right thumb.Fields, who was hurt during the third quarter of Sunday’s 19-13 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings, had X-rays of his right hand taken at the stadium during the game and underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan Monday morning. The X-rays were negative for a fracture.Bears coach Matt Eberflus didn’t share the specifics of what the MRI showed, but he insinuated that Fields’ uncertain recovery timetable likely would inhibit his ability to be ready for Sunday’s game at Soldier Field.“It’s really going to come down to grip strength,” Eberflus said. “There’s natural swelling that occurs with this injury. We really should know more at the end of the week.”Fields was at Halas Hall on Monday working on his recovery with team trainers. But Eberflus didn’t dismiss th...Latest news
